If you ran out of charge in a battery powered car?

1. lucysandybarb Says: as a back up and to be used in an emergency could you use a small portable generator to re charge the car.
how long would it take and whats the smallist generator you could use.
i know it defeats the object but its just a thought.
2. Howard L Says: Fully electric cars need a dedicated charging station. They can't be charged from a portable generator.
3. Alex Francis Says: Yeah, totally dependent electric vehicles need their own docking station to charge, just as the person above stated. Best bet is to NOT let the battery die. I think they stay charge for a reasonable amount of time, you normally plug them up at night.

Hybrid is the best answer, electric at speed, fuel when you need it.
4. greenboyx9x Says: In theory yes - if at home you plug your electric car into an ordinary electric outlet then as long as your generator gives the same output (volts & amps) you can simply start the generator and wait.

I'm sure in your electric car manual it will state the rate at which the batteries charge.
