Is it possible to rent a big motorbike to travel through the US?

I am planning to travel through the whole US. I think I know enough people from each state, so I could get an accommodation for few days in each state. But renting one. How much would it cost?

And how long does it normally take to travel from one state to the next one ?

2. JetDoc Says: If you want to travel throughout the USA on a motorcycle, you might be better off bringing your own motorcycle, or buying one here then selling it at the end of your trip. If you stay on the Interstate highways, you can travel through most states in a day, but if you do that, you'll miss out on some great side trips and back roads. Crossing Texas east to west, or California from north to south may take 2-3 days.

Several Harley Davidson dealers around the country will rent their big Harleys by the day or week. It's not cheap, and you'll need to have a motorcycle endorsement on your drivers license from your home country. Check out this web site for more info...
