Are Volkswagen GTIs good cars?

However, the 1.8 turbo is known to have coil pack failures. As long as you change the oil with synthetic, replace the timing belt along with the water pump, coolant (g12), thermostat, rollers, tensioner every 65K, run it with premium it will be bullet proof.3. Says: Check consumer reports - I think 2006-onwards is pretty good.In general tho, Toyota is less headache money-wise4. Says: Both the Polo and Golf Gti are good cars. Cheaper to maintain than a BMW or Mercedes5. Says: They are sweet.
