Are Volkswagen GTIs good cars?

2. djaca70 Says: Not really. However, the 1.8 turbo is known to have coil pack failures. As long as you change the oil with synthetic, replace the timing belt along with the water pump, coolant (g12), thermostat, rollers, tensioner every 65K, run it with premium it will be bullet proof.
3. Adel Says: Check consumer reports - I think 2006-onwards is pretty good.

In general tho, Toyota is less headache money-wise

Just a ***** to repair due to high cost.
