1996 ford taurus brake light panel??? would it be illegal to paint over...?

1. Rachel Sargent Says: my taurus is a 1996 (white). what i want to do is tape over the area where the lights are and JUST spray paint over the black part. heres a picture to get an idea.

but would i like to know is if it would be illegal for me to do this. i know that its illegal to cover up your headlights with tape but idk if thats the same for brake lights. and i would still be able to see out of these because im only spraying over the black part. also i was wondering if it would be illegal to paint over all the emblems on my car.

2. Bluto B Says: You'll be fine but research how to remove that trim piece before you paint it. It'll come out better. Emblems can be removed also. Do that instead of making a hill billy mess out of it.

3. JetDoc Says: Sounds like a seriously dumb idea to me, but I doubt that it's illegal. If you don't like the car's emblems, then remove them. They're just held on with double-sided tape.
