Is it time to buy a new car?
(2011-05-29 14:30:30) 1. Says: I have a 2003 Vw Jetta with 101k miles. It has no ac (we are literally replacing a part in the ac almost every week) OR a part in the car in another section. We have done more repairs on that car over the last few months (fortunately my husband is a mechanic). His opinion is, the car doesn't have much more life in it and we're all tired of shelling out $. I bought it used (2 prior owners) with 85k miles (my mistake he tells me).1) Do I really need to get another car? I have a young child and in Texas driving around w/o ac is a no no (its hot!)
2) I have great credit, every manager at the dealerships tell me. But, they want someone that makes closer to 6-10k a month to even finance a used car. They claim I haven't the income, but they don't know I make the payments on my husband's brand new car (lease) AND my Jetta, though its in my Mom's name because @ the time I had no credit.
3) My Mom has asked my almost 90 year old Grandma with perfect (never a mark, ever) credit to co sign for me so that I can get a super low monthly payment on a newer car. My opinion is, I am in my mid 20s. If I can't get a car on my own, I don't need one.. Period.
4) Should I really be getting another car? I still owe $3k or so on my Jetta now, so I'd be "upside down" with the new one and they want to tack $595 onto the new one.
The engine on my Jetta also shakes and makes a terrible noise in the ac when I turn it on.2. Says: Usually at 90k or closer to 100k almost all cars needs to be heavily maintained. if you think you spent enough on the car then your car is all fixed and you are selling it. just wait for couple more repairs and you should be all set.3. Says: Try Roadloans.com. They were able to refinance my car and I have terrible credit. They even approve new car loans.4. Says: yes its time5. Says: A perfect example of what I have been trying to tell people who want to buy a new or used VW for years and years.. VW especially new VW's can seem to be a great value for the money at first, so sweet with toys looks and sometimes great power, what person with 20K to spend couldn't fall in love with a VW.. .. But as usual you get what you paid for. VW's historically fall apart even with the best of care at around 90K or 10 years. Miles and or time kill these cars and the nickel and dimeing begins. SO its 2011 and yes Vdubs just 9 or 10 years old and/or at 90K are keeping up the tradition and next year the 11 year old cars are up to bat. ANYONE who buys a VW should be told the historical traist these cars model year after model year exhibit. Tag: Is it time to buy a new car?
