Most affordable AWD vehicle?

1. Lauren Gjerstad Says: I have a 02 Range Rover and I'm heading to college in the fall, right now it is getting 13.5 mpg and I was looking at getting a more fuel efficient car. It has to have AWD, be reliable, get decent-good mpg, and it wouldn't hurt if it wasn't so expensive to maintain! I have about a $10,000 budget..please help!!!!

2. Crazyworld Says: Find yourself a used Subaru. Probably around 03- 07. These cars are the most amazing AWD machine available. Mileage is a big factor in price on these vehicles. The reason is, because they run for ever. Well. almost. When buying one you want to look for the one that fits your budget in good shape. Don't worry too much about mileage. The only thing to worry about is the timing chain. I believe its recommended at 120k. If the mileage is close to or over that ask for records showing it has been changed.
Other than that these cars won't let you down. I say MOST AFFORDABLE because you don't pay much for what you are getting and they require very little maintenance. In fact the avg Subie run for 276000 miles before needing anything major. So the cost of ownership is also low. In addition to that they hold their value great.
It is the most affordable AWD option even if it costs a little more upfront
just remembered, Subaru's use a H style (horizontally opposed) motor rather than a V style or straight style. So do small airplanes. Reliability is key in a plane and these are the motors the use. That says something
