My steering wheel shakes when I press on the brakes if I'm driving?

1. Jade Phifer Got Back.. Says: over 45mph. I'm not sure if I need to get an alignment or something done to the breaks. I drive a 2008 Nissan Sentra. It has 59,000 miles on it. If you think you know what's wrong please provide details, and how much it may cost to get the issue fixed. Nothing else has been a problem for me with this car. Thanks!

2. hi j Says: I had exact same issue when I reached 60mph and pressed the brakes. Usually happens at 60mph tho, i've been told. My steering wheel used to shake like crazy on the highway. My tires had to be balanced, cost me $20 at wal mart. now it runs like new and it's a 20 yr old car.

U need a balancing job done, it would be strange if the brakes suddenly decided to act up at 45 mph every time. Doubt that ur problem is the brakes. Get balancing job dine first, only twenty. If problem continues THEN take ur car to a mechanic

3. fstmny4 Says: Get your brakes checked. Most likely you have never changed them, and the rotars (the disk that your pads press against to stop you) is warped and needs to be turned/replaced. along with the pads. The shaking is caused by the pads slipping in the areas that are worn out more then the others on the rotar. if thats it your looking at some where between 150 to 300 to repair, depends on all that needs to be done...

There's a Party at a Rich Dude's House!™ Says: I doubt if it's the alignment because if it was the alignment your car would be driving crooked if you were to take your hands off the steering wheel. I won't be surprised if you hear of your car being recalled soon. That's what's happening to a lot of foreign cars these days.

5. Chris Says: sounds like you have warped brake roters take it to a shop specilizing in brakes. usually around $40-$60 per hour for labor pluse parts cost.
