Does having your car idling charge the battery?

At idle speed the charge is low, so if your lights are on, fan/air-condition is on etc that your draining out the battery.

If everything is off, you're getting a slow charge.
3. rick29148 Says: Depends.... If all the lights & stuff are OFF, idling will slowly charge the battery. BUT, if the headlights are ON, or you're playin' your monster thumper in the trunk, then the power used can exceed the power being generated, netting a loss, which is made-up from the battery.
