Did I get ripped off on my car?

It only had 26k miles, so therefore I was told that it qualified to be certified. Upon buying the car, I was given a Carfax that rang absolutely perfect and only showed that it was a "dealer demo" car and that it was from out of state originally. To my surprise, my husband discovered the same night that the front right reflector/light was not put in correctly and was hanging out when it wanted to. Also, the brackets for the sun shades were broken off on one side and the car stated "maintenance/oil change due". I called the dealer's corp office and they were told to fix everything, the manager stated that he would even do the oil change. I was told by the dealership that they only turned the maintenance message light off and only did a state inspection and sold the car. The Carfax never mentioned that it had been in a WRECK when the prior dealership had it.

Today we had to buy the oil and do the oil change ourselves, as the dealer refused. I called VW corporate offices and the rep stated that what they did was against corporate policies and for the car to be certified, it has to have "all maintenance current and that includes the oil change".

1) Is this normal, to neglect simple maintenance like an oil change?
2) VW asked what damages I sought, and I told them that I felt the dealer should reimburse us for the oil change we did.
3) I was told that they are not required to report the accident, but can they really sell it like that and slap a certified pre loved sticker on it?!

Should I demand that the dealership knock some off the selling/finance price for what they did to us?
2. rhoads83j Says: See if the state you live in has a lemon law. Most times, lemon laws require dealers to disclose any major damage to the buyer.
3. Scott H Says: You can demand all you want, but the dealer has a contract with your signature that states the selling price and that you agreed to it.
