What's wrong with my small engine weedeater?
(2011-06-25 14:20:14) 1. Says: I've got a craftsman 4 cycle weedeater that won't start. The first problem that I had was that the air filter casing came off and so there was just a hole in the side of the weedeater in which if you plugged while running, it would kill the engine. Without the air filter it worked fine and so I continued to use it. I'm afraid some dust and water might have gotten through the hole that the air filter used to cover. Now after a couple weeks of it working, it won't start. I also have been keeping it in the back of my pickup and i found some oil leaking out and so I completely changed the oil in the weedeater and it still won't start. What could be the problem here. Stuff inside the engine? Spark plugs? How should I fix it?2. Says: The cylinder is likely fouled with oil. Remove the spark plug and clean it off in gasoline.Pull the starter on your weed-eater a few times with the plug out.
This should expel any excess oil in the cylinder.
Put it back together and it should start.
P.S. Get another air cleaner on there before you ruin the engine.3. Says: Your Carb. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54RIMPW5YgI to watch a carb rebuild. You CAN"T run any engine without complete filtration - especially one which generates as much debris in the air as a weedeater.4. Says: try a new spark plug.
