Need help with floppy hand brake?

1. Kyle Hodge Says: so the other day i got my first car and so i was siting in it and i pulled on the hand brake wile not moving pretty hard i heard a bang and it went really loose so i pulled up the center piece and i pulled on the line and it wasn't broken because if i pull the handle all the way up it still pulls a little its just as if the line is not being pulled back. dose any one have any idea what this might be and how to fix it that would be a great help thanks

car is a 1994 chevy corsica

2. Claira Voyant Says: Well, you broke something. There are 3 parking brake cables, 1 up front and 2 in the back. If a rear one broke the other will still try to draw the cable back, giving you the appearance of it being "ok". You could also have broken the linkage piece inside the caliper. Keep looking, you'll find it.
