Engine cylinder bored out? That mean it will break easy?
(2011-06-25 14:20:26) 1. Says: I've been looking at dirtbikes and I found one in my price range and it's exactly what i wanted but the engine cylinder has been bored out.. My friend told me I'd be spending a lot to replace the pistons each year and it's not worth it what should i do?2. Says: If done right boring has little damage. Search ENGINE/ CYLINDER BORING know what you're talking about.It is the easiest way to make an engine bigger. The man who invented the Corvette said it was just taking metal out of the block and putting it to work in the piston
If the engine runs good now it was done correctly and will last until you abuse it to death.
If it rattles and smokes (other than 2 stroke oil smoke) don't buy it.3. Says: "My friend told me I'd be spending a lot to replace the pistons each year'"
Get a better friend.
Engines get bored out all the time. Even if the cylinder walls are thin, you wouldn't be replacing pistons every year.
In fact, there's few reasons at all I can think of that you'd need to replace pistons as often as that.
