Question about UK driving tests?

1. 1066 Says: I would like a little help here, i have my driving test soon and it seems like such a stupid problem but i want sensible answers only.

Before the test you have to read a number plate. I heard somewhere that you do not have to say it out loud you can write down on a piece of paper what you see and show the examiner. When i get nervous my speech gets muddled so when i read a number plate i will see a letter like a W i can see its a W but my brain will come out with rubbish. I think it would be helpful to me to write the reg number down at the start of the test. Do you think its worth asking my instructor or the examiner??

2. Jimi_324 Says: Yeah it won't be a problem if you tell him that. Your not being tested on fluency and coherence it's just to make sure your eyesight is fit for you to be driving, which it clearly is and he already knows that but its just a formality.

3. John P Says: I would speak to the instructor about your problem, it is like people that are color blind they have to know the position of the light. Here in the States all traffic lights are the same, Red on the left, Green on the right, for vertical lights, Red on the top,Green on the bottom.
