My Radiator Hose is Punctured and Wont Hold any Liquid. Can I drive it 2 the Mechanic Shop?
(2011-06-27 14:20:11) 1. Says: The shop is two blocks away from my house. Dont say call a tow truck because I can barely aford the 460 dollars they are charging to fix it so I would really like to avoid spending more money!!2. Says: Yes - fill the radiator and leave the cap off for the drive so the system doesn't pressurize. Duct tape will hold well enough when the cap is off, but the radiator will need to be refilled every half mile. Two blocks is no problem at all - just start the car and start driving. What puzzles me is the $460 for the repair. That is about 4 times as much as one hose replacement normally costs. I must be missing something.3. Says: This is just for mike, just use water, it cools better. Are you nuts? Water is definitely NOT what should be in the radiator system if you want to keep your car. Do you put water in you crankcase, it's cheaper than oil. Just dayem.4. Says: 460.00 to change a rad hose and replace coolant.Check for leaks, geeez rip off.Maybe 200.00 max.
I would check with another if possible.5. Says: 460!?!?!
a hose is no more than 20 dollars and the coolant is like 5 good lord you could even use water it cools better anyways6. Says: use some duck tape around the hose pipe.7. Says: fill up with water , put strong tape on the hose and you should be fine. I used tape for weeks before Tag: My Radiator Hose is Punctured and Wont Hold any Liquid.
