Why does the needle on my gas gauge never move?

1. Dan Kenzie Says: 87 izusu trooper. I need to fix it that gauge. Can I do it myself? How? There is no mechanic on the island
2. Boo Boo Says: because the solenoid on your fuel pump isnt working properly and or at all, not sending signals back to the Electronic control unit there for no dashboard display of fuel capacity, Remedy consists of dropping the tank fitting a new fuel pump in my opinion :)
3. Gary D Says: It sounds like you may have been a victim of high-sulphur fuel. Gas gauges are contained inside the gas tank and it's not a repair that's encouraged for amateurs. Gas gauges use a silver coated framework to measure the conductivity of a metal ball moving up and down with the volume of gasoline inside the tank. If you filled up with a high-sulphur fuel (Shell oil offered this accidentally some 6 years ago or so), then the silver was oxidized to sliver sulphate and you lost the conductivity from the gas gauge. The only option is to have a professional remove the gas tank, drain the tank and replace the gauge.
