Syd Duff Says: Well my first car is an orange Honda fit but it's a stick shift. My dad let me drive it down a back road to get the feel of a stick shift car. It's so hard to get used to but do you think I'll be ok by the time I'm 15 1/2 and get my permit?

Barbara C Says: First, let me say that by law you should not be driving...but my family owned a logging company and we were often in the woods on the weekends working on equipment. It was just my mom, dad and myself. So I learned to drive a stick shift at the age of 10, so that I could get out of the woods if something happened to my parents. I was driving our semi's by the age of 16, but this was just to move them around the lot. I do think you are old enough, and it is great for you to know how to drive. Especially a stick shift, that is one thing that everyone should know how to drive in case of an emergency.

Reverend Joe Says: I learned in a manual shift, and did driver's ed in a automatic. It's nice to be able to drive either option. But the manual shift gives you a lot to learn all at once, and the automatic helps you concentrate on the road.
