Will taking an engine out of car to fix an oil leak cause future problems?

1. btrue2u04 Says: In order to repair an oil leak to fix the rear main seal and oil pan gasget, the motor has to come out. Once a motor is taken out and put back in the vehicle, would this cause additional future problems?
2. Elizabeth Says: Most of the time there is no need to take the engine out completely usually lifting the engine and separating it from the transmission a few inches is enough. Being in the industry for 30 years I think it is a waste of time and energy to remove it.

However if you know what you are doing and do it right make sure everything is put back like it was every bolt, every bracket it should not cause you problems later. If you don't put it back together properly then yes it can cause you big constant problems.

3. D Says: Not if done correctly. When doing something as complex as a motor removal there is always the chance that small parts will be broken, hoses torn, etc., and there is always the chance that they might forget to hook something up or leave a bolt out, but that's not a reason not to repair it.

4. Integra Type R Says: not of done right. WHat year/make model is the car? It may be due for some new motor mounts as long as theyre removing the motor. Or if its old enough it might not be worth the cash to get that leak fixed. Im guessing youre in the 500.00+ range here for the repair?
