What is the 'distributor-to-coil primary wire'? (1983 chevy c10 pickup)?

1. . Says: This is what it says in the manual. I don't understand. Distributor to coil...what is meant by 'coil'?

Peter Says: if im not mistaken the 83 has a HEI ignition system the coil is in the distributor cap. its the heavy square thing on top of the cap. if that's not the case just look at the cap there will be a wire going to the center of the cap that's your primary coil wire follow it back to the coil a round canister type thing
3. William W Says: On older cars, the high voltage for the spark plugs was generated in a spark coil; it's a type of transformer. The high voltage generated was carried from the spark coil to the distributor by a wire similar to the type used to carry voltage to the spark plugs. This is the wire you're asking about.
