What proof is required if I want to declare my vehicle as MOT exempt?
(2011-07-17 14:25:05) 1. Says: From what I can tell from direct.gov.uk, anyone can fill in the form and take it to the post office. Do I need to provide any proof that my vehicle is MOT exempt?2. Says: DVLA have details of the vehicle on record already and they will check if that tallies with what you claim. If it is not already recorded as one of the exempt categories but is for instance a car now under the auspices of the local authority for checks they will require proof. You cannot decide unilaterally that it is exempt, I'm afraid..3. Says: ANY vehicle less than 3 years old.Tractors.
Track-laying vehicles.
Articulated vehicles that are NOT buses or lorries.
Works trucks.
Invalid carriages weighing no more than 306kg unladen.
Vehicles that travel less than 6 miles per week on public roads (and only to access property belonging to the vehicle owner).
Hackney carriages licenced by a Local Authority.
Police vehicles.
Electric vehicles.
Trams.
Trolley buses.
Vehicles covered under the Special Types General Order of 1988.
Any vehicle on an island that has no tunnel, bridge, ford, ferry or other vehicular access to the U.K. mainland.
