What is the difference between HID bulbs, projector headlights, ect?

1. GOD Says: I am customizing my truck and some of the choices for headlights are getting HID bulbs, or projector headlights.

I am under the impression that these are different things. Can i put HID bulbs in a projector lamp?

what are the blueish type headlights called? Are those HID or projector?

2. Me MEE is better than you Says: A projector lamp is a new headlight for your truck. This focuses the lamp's power into an area on the road. The projector is the best type of housing for an HID. An HID is a type of bulb this brighter and a different color temp than a regular bulb. HID's are new but can blind on coming traffic if not aimed correctly. This will cause them to be illegal. new Audi's have HID's (good excuse if pulled over for them). If you use HID's do not use a projector and a 55 watt bulb this will melt the projector's housing due to the light being focused on the housing. Also if installing an HID kit use a relay harness so you do not get electrical interference.

3. He C Says: Most older and low end cars have headlight designed for a halogen bulb. Reflectors in your headlight are used to focus the halogen light beam so you don't blind people on the road. Putting a HID bulb in that kind of headlight is illegal to most states if not all since HID light acts differently then halogen the reflectors are not able to focus it properly and blind people on the road. Projector lamp consist of two main parts, the lens and a HID bulb. The bulb may or may not be included with it. Without the HID bulb in the lamp its like a headlight without a halogen bulb, there is no light source.
