In England, at what age does a hgv driver need their 1st medical ?

george d Says: You will require the medical only when you renew your C+E licence for your 45th year. As my licence was valid until I was 47, I didn't need a medical until it was renewed. Shop around as there are companies that specialise in Vocational Licence medicals & are cheaper than your own G.P. I used Cotswold Medical Group a couple of years ago - cost me £49. They usually rent office space for a few days at various locations & are a genuine company.

oldiebike Says: first medical at 45 then every 5 years until age 60 this will take you to your 65th birthday. if you drive hgv after 65 the medical must be done anually
