350 Chevy small block question?

(2011-07-20 14:15:15)
1. Toby Says: My question is do anyone know the specs on a 350 small block 4 bolt main from a 1972 chevy c10? I'm looking for the compression ratio and horsepower specs. And if there is any thing special about these blocks. Hope someone can help me out with this one.
2. fuzzylogic_y2k Says: 200 hp (149 kW) and 300 lb·ft (407 N·m) with 8.5:1 compression

There is nothing really special aside from the ability to turn it into a stroker motor by doing a crank swap.
3. dusk_69gto Says: like fuzzy said, but some had different heads and intakes, so if it was a stock one check the vin on the truck, block and heads. block should be close to the back and the heads under the valve covers between two sets of rockers, then you well know all you need to know. i pulled my 350 out of a 72 c10 but it was modified a little and its a good motor.
4. Shaun A Says: Those are first Gen emission engines. They're hogs & dogs. Lots to be changed to gain significant power, mileage, and clean up emissions. All 3 of these can be helped in the same swing.
The cams are stupid in them. Lots of seat to seat valve timing with VERY lazy ramps KILLS the cylinder pressure in them.

What are you trying to accomplish..?

5. chevyraceman_383 Says: 1972, 350, R2bbl carb, 8.500:1 compression, 165 HP @ 4000 RPM, 280 ft lbs torque @ 2400 RPM

1972, 350, R4bbl carb, 8.500:1 compression, 200 HP @ 4400 RPM, 300 ft lbs torque @ 2800 RPM
6. Barry V Says: look up your block casting numbers..they are on the rear passenger side of the block.. then look up the casting numbers. you will find more information that way.
7. Mac Anic Says: Try google.
