Why does my car shake when I brake?

(2011-07-20 14:20:15)
1. Spudoodle Says: whenever i brake fast (not TOO fast but when i brake after going 40plus) my car shakes, seems like its coming from the front, and i think my car is gonna shut down

it doesnt but i notice the RPMs go slightly under them level its in when idle then they go back to normal

thus making me be the slowest driver on the street and i have to begibn braking like half a block before i have to stop

and yes ive looked this problem up and i have seen possibilities of what it may be but i want to vbe sure of what it may be before i shell out my whole paycheck to a mechanic

its a 94 Honda Accord EX it that helps
its embarrasing when i have girls in my car

thank you in advance!
2. Venus Says: Chingow wey pos even if its expensive u gotta fix it ke le ases u cant be driving around like that.
3. Davey Says: The other gal's husband is right. It could be a warped rotor caused by sticking caliper or severe braking (driving crazy at high speeds?). You could also have a belt in a tire separating. Get an oil change at Sears or Midas & they will check both of those out for FREE! Do it before you break a ball joint from the wiggling. That is where all the stress goes. It also could be the problem too.
4. mdk68gto, ase certified m tech Says: you can go one of two ways and the prices are comparable. you can take the rotors off and have them machined and replace the pads at the same time or replace the pads and rotors. i am about to do the same thing to a set of drums on my van next week end.
5. cheeze Says: It sounds like warped brake rotors, you would need to resurface them or possibly replace them along with replacing the brake pads.
6. bobweb Says: Go to a brake shop that has an "on-the-car" brake lathe that machines the front rotors while they're mounted on the car. That will solve the problem.
7. John John Says: The rotors are worn. Have that serviced very very soon. Be careful out there.
8. cimra Says: You have warped rotors, they can be either turned or replaced.
9. Store Brand Mayonnaise Says: Most likely a warped rotor, an out of balance tire. Or both
10. NM Says: My truck does the same thing.
My husband thinks it's because I need new brakes and rotors.
11. GamerChick Says: YOU NEED NEW ROTORS.
