Does my automatic Dodge Challenger need to push a button to move the shift knob?

Says: Hello, I cant remember, but when I need to shift out of park and such, is there a button I push on the stick to move it after pressing the brakes.I ask because I changed it with one of those 8 balls, and it doesn't require you to hold a button to get it out of park, and I cant remember about the original.
