Put new rotors and pads on my car and tires, something seems wrong..?
(2011-08-01 14:20:15) 1. Says: I have a 2007 Mazda 3 sport 2.3L. I got aftermarket brakes from auto zone put on my car. One caliper gave us some problems during installation, every other one opened up nicely except one of the rear calipers we had to get a tool from auto zone.About two weeks ago I was parking and that same tire locked up and skidded, but didn't do it again. Then today as I was parking my car made a strange metal grinding noise, but as soon as I reversed and tried slowly pulling into the parking spot again it didn't make any noise.
About a month ago My car was making a funny sound that resembled having snow tires on my car so I thought something was wrong with my bearings ... there is also vibrations in the wheel while driving around 60 mph.
I took it to the car dealer to check my bearings they said they were fine, however my warranty is almost up and I want to find out the problem before I have to dish out a lot of money.
I just had four new tires put on my car along with it being aligned and the tires balanced to try and rule that out.. but it still shakes Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be wrong with my car, vibration when just aligned etc and the brakes ??????????2. Says: The problem with buying any parts or tires or getting any kind of work done is there could be a fault or factory defect with the tires or even with the alignment job.One thing that I've noticed a lot is unless most shops are asked to check all the tires fully and the rims they might let faulty tire or bent rim to to be used during the wheel balancing process. Also sometimes the amount of weights or wrong type of weights are used and that can throw off any vehicle's front end and steering. The correct amount of air in each tire is also vital , plus making sure none of the brake rotors or drums or bearings are loose or warped.
Believe it or not but a faulty tire or something wrong in the rear end can make a vehicle seem to have a front end or steering problem. This can especially occur if the back brakes aren't braking evenly as as a pair as well as the front brakes all together this can cause again the front end to pull or vibrate. Especially if that one side rear calliper is sticking and from the sounds of that calliper requires replacing or a good full cleaning or a full over haul including proper lubrication.Note if that rear calliper is sticking for sure that would end up throwing the whole vehicles ride on the road bec that rear wheel brake would be rubbing causing the wobble.
You might wish to have a free front end check on it to see if by possible anything is a bit loose but wasn't noticed during the 4 wheel alignment. If you shop around you should be able to have a front end shop conduct a free road test and then put it up on the hoist for you for free bec it's all just part of their free estimate service.I do again point out that the rear brake issue should be dealt with fully by replacing/resurfacing the rotor and changing the pads.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if the rear calliper is acting up like we both obviously know it is that throws off the other rear brake and the two sets of front brakes too so be sure to check all the brakes. Some shops offer brake inspections and this might help you to see exactly what is going on with the pads and rotors etc.Note if you purchased the wrong types of brake pads or have two surfaces that aren't braking right bec of the wrong types of materials or metals the braking system will end up not functioning properly or burning up rotors and pads or improper wear and tear.
I recommend a semi metallic brake pads and a mid grade rotor bec they well give you a fair braking system and last awhile unless you're really hard on brakes etc then you might want to buy life time warranty pads and rotors that offer you a slightly better stopping speed.Plus if you shop around you can get some pretty good deals on brake parts especially online or ebay etc.3. Says: You're quite welcome 4. Says: i had to get tires balleance two times because tire man did not ballance corectley an still had vibrations after second time was o k should have replace that calper5. Says: Install better suspension, take off the brakes and attach a bicycle to the side of your car, when you need to brake hit the bike brake until someone with a Prius rear ends you, then wait until they run out of gas while they push you along at 100mph, when you coast to a stop, get out and tell they will fix everything on your car, or else you will sue them, when they fix it tell them thank you, and ask them if they want go go out for a burrito, then you two will become bffs as an added bonus Tag: Put new rotors and pads on my car and tires, something seems wrong..?
