What would be the economical problems if public transport were free?

Says: You have to ask yourself this: if public transport is free, then where is the money coming from to pay for the buses, drivers, maintenance, etc ?If it's not coming from the sale to tickets, then it has to come from *somewhere*. And if it is not budgeted correctly, then it will come from debt. If that debt becomes unsustainable, then all hell breaks loose.
So free public transport is not a solution, mainly because the costs would actually be even HIGHER than they are now since MORE people would use it.2.
