How much to replace brake pads on 1992 toyota celica?
(2011-08-05 14:20:22) 1. Says: approximately? there is nothing wrong with the rotors, but the brake are rock solid, perhaps crystalized. My grandfather is a mechanic, says they're safe to drive with (or did about 3-4 months ago, he'd have told me/would tell me if i needed to change them for safety sake)But the problem is, is that they are terribly loud and squeely. I've put up with it for half a year already and i'm sick of it. it's embarrassing and annoying as H**
Anyway, enough of the rant, about how much for labor and parts?2. Says: First should use toyota pads, everyone else's squeak. Cost around $150.00- $180. depending on labor rate. Also look at rotors if any hot spots or grooving get reground or replaced. Otherwise will end up with same problem. Pads crystallize from heat generated by braking.3. Says: Some shops could be as much as $500. As a mechanic myself they will want to at least turn the rotors to make the stop as smooth as possible. Some rotors can't be turned. What I am talking about is that the rotors spin in a forward direction. you can take the rotors off the vehicle and lay them on a flat surface, parts of the disk will be heigher than others. Kind of like an old warped record or cd that has laid in the sun too long. what turning does is flatten the disk by cutting off the heigher parts both inside and out. Some disks can't be turned depending on the style, so they replace these disks with new. This is alot of the cost of newer brake system replacement. An option is to go to an Auto parts store and get a price on the cost of both the pads and rotors and then do your shopping around for the cost of having them replaced. A lot of backyard mechanics can do this without any problem.4. Says: A couple hundred bucks. Parts labor is about a 1 to 4 ratio haha5. Says: Midas and Meineke do brakes for 100 per axle.
