Is my Catalytic Converter clogged up?
(2011-08-12 14:20:20) 1. Says: I have an '06 Dodge Ram 4.7l V8. It has 2 Converters, one gets hot on both sides, other only gets hot on side from manifold. At tailpipe, exhaust is just billowing out at full power, only 1 tail pipe, both headers connect after converters at some point. The truck idles good and revs perfectly fine in neutral. Once it's put into drive, the engine bogs down, and with the gas pedal floored I can barely move the truck, even a slight incline and it will just stop, there's no power at all. Its about 700RPM when in drive, no higher, no lower. 2 Errors. P0300(multiple cylinder misfire) and P0113(Intake Air Flow Sensor). Before I cut the converters off I just want a second opinion from the great people of Yahoo answers. WTF is wrong? Would a truck run like this if 1 converter is clogged but not the other? An other thoughts on what the problem might be? Help me out, Thanks!p.s. I know how to test the converters, I have not done so yet because it's dark outside right now and my drill battery is charging. I just want an opinion, not a lesson on how to test converters.2. Says: Sounds like your transmission. The whole point of having 2 converters is so that if one fails, the vehicle can still be driven. The fact that it idles fine and high rpms can be achieved in neutral tells me it's probably got nothing to do with your converters.3. Says: remove the exhaust pipes where they bolt to the exhaust manifolds on both sides and start the truck up and drive it. if the truck runs and drives better its the cats. easy way to find plug cats.4. Says: After some time Tag: Is my Catalytic Converter clogged up?
