Improving A 2005 Mustang V6?

(2011-08-13 14:15:12)
1. Josh Kelly Says: I have a 05 Mustang V6 with custom lights, wheels, tires, grill and hood. Its a single exhaust V6 and I want to make it sound better. Flowmaster? Magnaflow? This is all new to me. Im looking for cheap solutions to making this thing sound much more powerful. Also any other cheap aftermarket items that will make it look cooler? Already ordering louvers. Thank you.
2. R8 Says: keep it a single exhaust and go buy a "super 44" Flowmaster right after and flowmaster have the person doing the job to cut it it will sound loud and mean
3. Redlining Search Engine Says: only in your mind kid, but then you admitted you don't know a damn thing
4. Redlining Search Engine Says: Not hating, but all I can say is I hope the mods are not too over the top/rice cause fact is you can back yourself into the poser corner real fast w/ a V6 if you don't know what you're doing.

The fact is you have a musstang that is the first year of the 5th gen mustang, but one that is pre-2011, so odds are it only has around 200-210HP....which is fine for daily driving, but not much else, so hope you didn't think you were buying a sports car or anything.

The fact is you may want to cool it w/ any more external mods cause there aren't really any internal/performance mods for V6's that really do anything useful w/out honestly spending way more than it makes sense to do it....mainly due to the fact that the V6 engine blocks are not built to the same standards that the V8's are. So if you did something stupid like put a supercharger or something on it, you would wreck the whole motor real fast.

And also flowmaster and magnaflow will both add a bit more to the sound, but there is no real way to make a V6 sound anything like a V8 w/out actually adding the 2 extra cylinders. So hope that didn't ruin it for you too much. You've still got a pretty cool car so just drive it and enjoy...and don't do anything stupid and you should be fine
5. Vipassana Says: "custom lights, wheels, tires, grill and hood"

Look at all that money you've completely wasted on a slow car.

Sell all the parts you bought, and make it stock.

Then sell the car.

Then buy a V8 model.

Oh, and by the way:

"Also any other cheap aftermarket items that will make it look cooler?"

Cheap = cheap. Cheap does not, nor will it ever, equal "cool".
6. Mark F Says: Sell it and use the proceeds to buy a GT of similar vintage.

Honeslty, trying to hop-up the base model of a fast car is like putting lipstick on a pig.
