1. naow Says: Now it's running a little funny and I wonder if it's the extra oil. It has bogged down and hesitated a bit. Could be unrelated, but just want to know if anyone thinks I should drain the extra half quart out of the pan.
2. don r Says: Remove the oil filter, pour out the oil in it, put the filter back on and check the oil level. If you open the drain plug you will spill a lot more oil than necessary. Before you do that check the dipstick and make sure the oil level really is too high. Excess oil might puddle in th evalve cover and get sucked in through a valve guide, fouling spark plugs. The spark plugs may need to be cleaned. It's easier to just change them. Do that only one at a time so you don't risk mixing up spark plug wires.
3. Mr. D Says: Half a quart of oil should not be any problem. If too much oil is put in the crank will hit the oil and make it foam so you have air mixed in with the oil, not good for the motor. But takes more than half quart of oil before that happens.
4. mdk68gto, ase certified m tech Says: drain out the overage, you can blow a main seal like that. i dont know that it is directly related to the bogging issue though.
5. Nicky Carter Says: not enough to worry about
