Autozones computer says "coolant is always low??"?

1. Mrs. Beatty Says: My check engine light is on but the car is not overheating and the coolant is just below the full line. I have a 2006 Ford Fusion SEL 4 cyl 2.3 liter. It says on the receipt possible causes are needs coolant, thermostat defective or coolant temperature sensor needs replaced. Over the past few days we've checked the coolant and its stayed the same. We added water to the full line last night, which wasn't much. Do the computers autozone has always detect what's wrong correctly? I'm just not understanding why it says coolant is low when its not and the cars not overheating. The code on the receipt is P0128. Thanks.
2. MasTec 1970 Says: No they don't detect what is wrong they just read the code, And the database that they use is just general code descriptions and they address a generic diagnosis chart and that doesn't reflect what the known fixes for a particular vehicle as it is done in the field! Code P0128 indicates= Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature! There is NO "glitch" The PCM gives this 2 chances to pass and it didn't so there IS a problem!! These are the setting conditions for this DTC=Engine runtime over 10 minutes; and the PCM detected the engine did not reach an engine operating temperature of 160ºF after an additional runtime of 2 minutes. 9 times out of 10 this is due to a thermostat that is stuck open! Replace the engine thermostat! NOTE; Removing the battery cable on this vehicle will clear ALL of the emission related data and the only code you will find after disconnecting the battery is a P1000 this code indicates the Comprehensive component monitor checks are incomplete! ADDED; Makes you wonder where these people got all of these ideas from because, they darn sure didn't do any research!
3. MasTec 1970 Says: Thanks, I am glad I could help you!
4. Slick D. Says: If no mechanical problems you may have just a 'glitch'. Have all codes cleared (if they wont, remove neg battery cable for 5 min - this will clear light but still leave the code in history for any further repair), see which if any code comes back. If a light with a code returns then address. Define the low coolant and the temp sensor, if by chance you have an air pocket in the coolant system then you may have funny readings for both. Now, if there are NO real problems, coolant level is good, fans come on, temp stays fine, then lights should clear themselves. Chances are you need to replace the low coolant level sensor in the overflow tank...
5. pedro7of9 Says: lesson number
1 a computer readout is NOT the answer,,its a guide to where to look,,,where to start,
2 could be bad sensor or air in system
3 thats why u need a mechanic,,,the diagnosis is what you need
4 if you'r gona be playing mechanic get a shop manual,,,boundless info,,it will pay for itself the first time tou use it
6. bandit_60 Says: sounds like the radiator cap is,nt working like it should. the cap is suppose to release when the engine gets hot and spill out into the reservoir and when it cools down it,s suppose to open again so the radiator can suck it out of the reservoir to keep the radiator full.
7. kevin Says: You have a bad 'low coolant level' sensor. thats all it is. And yes, the code is correct. Autozone uses the same platform for code reading.
