Where can i find a used car?

(2011-08-26 14:30:07)
1. Kay Marie Says: Im looking to get a used car for college next year ( commuting) . Im looking for something between $5,000 to $7,000. Id be trading in a 2004 Ford explorer. I keep coming up with preety crappy cars, but i know if you try hard enough you can find a deal on a decent car! any help?
2. mccoyblues Says: Avoid the dealers if you want a decent car. Look for an individual who is looking to get rid of an old car they no longer need.

Dealers selling cars in your price range are selling pure crap or overcharging for the good stuff.

Since most lenders won't write loans for cheaper cars you get stuck with Buy Here Pay Here lots that just rip you off for everything.

Pay cash for a car and buy from a neighbor. Used cars are everywhere. There will probably be at least 4 of them sitting in yards or parking lots on your way home tonight. Just be aware of the curb stoners. Wholesale dealers who sell illegally from the side of the road. They buy cheap crap from the auction, pretend to selling their personal car and then screw you by misrepresenting the car or by not having a good title. Make sure the seller is the owner, the name on the title is the name of the man selling the car and that they have had the car for a long time. Documented service records will verify ownership. If they told you they just bought the car, hang up. Even if it appears to be a good car it's not wise to do business with people who lack integrity.
3. TOP COP Says: Wait a minute. You are trading a 2004 Explorer. Unless your Explorer has VERY high miles, is in poor condition, or somehow else has had a notable value reduction, it would probably be worth around $7,000-$8,000. So, in short, you will be downgrading--no wonder you have been coming up with crappy cars.

That being said, http://www.autotrader.com is the best website for finding used cars for sale.
4. Travis W Says: Find a reputable dealership. Find a car that has a clean CarFax. Find a car that has been maintained properly and on a regular schedule. There are good cheap cars out there. I work at a car dealership and we have some pretty decent quality used cars around that price range.
5. Unfrozen Caveman Says: You haven't explained why you aren't just keeping the Ford Explorer, nor what constitutes a decent car. There are a lot of cars on craigslist.
6. Umair Malik Says: Go to tradecarview.com, you will find data of 1000s of used cars
