(2011-08-27 14:25:04) 1. Says: I am looking at a truck and it says it has 240,000 miles on the body but 110,000 on the motor.Does it matter how many miles is on the body? It's a 1999 GMC SIERRA2. Says: just give the frame rails a good inspection. if they are rusted or thin i would pass on the truck. i live in the north and salt destroys the metal on rails and the body. look it over and if its brittle looking pass. if not buy it.3. Says: There's more to a car than the body and engine. The transmission and suspension also are worn. 110,000 miles on a GMC engine is a lot. I have a GMC with 15,000 miles and the front seal leaks. Also carefully inspect the exhaust manifolds. Certain years of GMC's manifolds continuously crack and are very expensive to replace. They were never recalled though this is a chronic condition.4. Says: Must have had the engine replaced. Not much can go wrong with the body, unless it's been in a wreck, flood, driven in salty conditions, or the like.Might want to check the suspension, too.5. Says: look for rust on the entire body if there is a spot get it repaired, you do not want rust to spread and according to your conditions there might be rust somewhere on the body look everywhere!6. Says: yes Tag: Does it matter how many miles is on the body of a vehicle?
