I ACCIDENTALLY PUT ABOUT 1 GALLON OF WATER INTO GAS TANK ON MY MOTOR HOME....I KNOW, I KNOW. HOW MUCH DRY GAS?
(2011-08-28 14:20:06) 1. Says: HOW MUCH DRY GAS DO I NEED ?2. Says: Motor Homes usually have a drain at the bottom of the tank just in case this happens, 1 gallon of water will never be displaced enough with ethanol, Let alone the fact Ethanol and water are very corrosive to the fuel system unless it is a e85 set-up.Fortunate for you, Water is heavier than fuel and if your tank is equip with a drain at the bottom, You can drain most of the water out before the fuel actually comes out,The secret is to loosen the drain so the water seeps past the drain plug (otherwise it will draw fuel with it, Kind of like pulling the stopper out of a tub).
After it starts seeping fuel tighten the drain, you could put 1 gallon of e85 fuel in the tank and then fill it the rest of the way with gasoline if it seems to run fine for an hour or so.
If there is no drain, you have no choice but to have the tank removed and cleaned.3. Says: bad news: gotta drain the tank
good news: water is heavier then gasoline and settles to the bottom of the tank so when you start draing the water will exit first then the gasoline so you can guickly put the plug back in after gas begins to pour out.
Dry gas aka denatured alcohol is great for condensated moisture and few drops of water but like the man said it would most likey require 55 gallons of dry gas to displace of water, to give you idea of just how much water is in a gallon just fill up an empty milk jug and gaze in wide wonder then lift it and feel the weight...4. Says: Explain5. Says: There ain't 'nuff dry gas in the world to fix that. Start draining Galileo.6. Says: don't start the engine and drain the gas tank.7. Says: sorry but you will have to drain tank.to much for dry gas Tag: I ACCIDENTALLY PUT ABOUT 1 GALLON OF WATER INTO GAS TANK ON MY MOTOR HOME....I KNOW, I KNOW. HOW MUCH DRY GAS?
