Madelynn Says: Most car gauges don't work when the car is off. This is simply where the needle rests, until you turn the car on. You accurate car temperature will be displayed when the car is on. If you're worried that your car is running hot, seek service before it's too late, or check/add coolant, if you know how.

Dan B Says: It means nothing. That's where the temperature gauge needle rests when no power is applied. The reading is only reliable with the engine running.

whata waste Says: the temp of the car doesn't go down instantly because you turn off the car. think of a bath tub filled with warm water. It stays warm for a while

xxhunterxx1 Says: Guage design. the needle simply is not supposed to return to "0" when the car is off.

taxpayer Says: because you just got home
