How can I clean condensation residue from the inside of my car windshield?
(2011-09-12 14:20:19) 1. Says: This has been happening a lot with the hot and really humid Summer months here in Michigan. I just can't stop it from happening. Everyday or every other day, I see this dirty fog on the inside of windshield. It pisses me off because it looks like a car that hasn't been washed in months, plus it's hazardous to drive this way at night.I've tried cleaning it with Windex, but it only stays clean for about a day, and then it forms a nasty residue on my windshield once again. Today, I tried putting some baking soda in a cup to see if would do the trick. So far it hasn't.2. Says: That doesn't sound right. You might be leaking coolant from your heater core and it's evaporating and getting stuck on your windshield... Happened to my old car. Have you noticed a kind of sweet smell? If so, that's coolant.
If it was just water, it'd wipe away easily.
You probably don't notice the coolant level in your reservoir dropping much right now because it's the summer season still and you're not using heat, so the flow to your heater core isn't really on. But during the winter time, when you start blasting the heat, you might start noticing a drop in the level.3. Says: well never heard of condensation residue. If moisture condenses on the inside of a windshield then craxk a window or two so the temprature equalizes quicker. since moisture must be present to cause condensation in the first place where is this moisture from? and some interior vehicle fabrics have been known to give off fumes and gases that can leave deposits on windows. Extreme enough to impede vision sounds pretty serious to me. when the outside temprature and the inside of your car temp are unequal, condensation can appear. It should evaporate normally as soon as the temprature or humidity change and equalize. wiping the condensation off the window is the fastest way to remove it or leave the windows down until the air moving through the vehicle evaporates the water.4. Says: First buy auto. window cleaner to clean. Question do you use defroster when window starts fogging up and does a/c work. If yes should keep clear unless a/c drain blocked and no water coming out on pavement. Other possibility heater core leaking and fogging up windshield. May also need to put a/c on recirc. so doesn't pull humid air from outside. this may sound silly but check trunk make sure dry. If a/c not working not a whole lot you can do other than fixing.
