Can you drive an mr2 in the snow?

1. Vikram Says: I'm asking because it's rear wheel drive
2. Old Man Dirt Says: Kind of funny in a way. VW bugs used to be used a lot in the snow because they were light and the engine was in the rear over the drive wheels. The MR2 should at least be as good as those old bugs.
I drive a Miata in snow which has pretty much the same weight distribution. But if I am expecting a lot of snow, I get snow tires. Something lost on a lot of drivers! They seem to think that all weather tires should do the trick and often they will. But put enough snow down and you need snow tires, it does not matter if the car is FWD or RWD (or AWD for that matter). Snow tires are for snow, other wise they would not continue to make them. Put them all the way around, it does you no good to get going if you can not get the car to turn. If you live in an area where you get ice on the road, get studded snow tires.
Now to tell you the truth, there is a point at which the Miata just stays parked. But it is not just because is snowed, it is because it SNOWED!!!!!! If the reports say to stay off the roads, I do.
3. Elusive Yeti Says: Yes acually because it is mid engine rear wheel drive and the weight of the engine in the rear helps the rear wheels to have better traction on snow.
4. fuzzylogic_y2k Says: You can drive anything in the snow, its just a matter of how stable it is. The MR2 would be tricky as it is a light car. Get some really good tires and that would make it easier.
