1. Master Shake Says: I just bought an 02 Honda Civic with over 200,000 miles on it. I know I'm going to need to keep up with the maintenance.
2. MidAtlantian Says: With an older car, it is better to change the oil a bit more frequently than the manual says. If you look at the oil in on the dipstick when it is first changed, you will see how clear it is. When you can no longer see the dip-stick though the oil layer on it when you pull it out, that is not the worst indication that it is time to change the oil.

Also, if you want to avoid costly repairs, also change the oil in the power steering and the transmission; along with the coolant in the radiator. You do not have to do that regularly, but you could do that now.
3. marvin Says: Depends if u drive far everyday you should do it at least once a month
Or if u use it...but not alot then about every 10,000 miles
4. Chocaholic Says: Oil changes should not change from regular maintenance.. I would have left if for something with lower mileage.(Like half what you got)
5. trapper1_CA T Says: Suggest to keep checking the oil at the dipstick once in a while,if it looks dirty, change it out
6. Eddie W Says: Use high mileage motor oil, change it every 3,000 miles or less.
7. taxpayer Says: max 5000k
