Why were older Cars/trucks/Tractors more durable and better then these new poor excuses for a vehicle?

1. YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE Says: it was a miracle for a car built in the 60s to reach 100k miles. Anything from the 70s with 100k was used up and ready for the scrap heap. Today, we have more and more cars ablet o easily hit that mark and then some. The body panels are more resistant to corrosion, so rust is not common on a 5 yr old car like it used to be. Modern brakes are far superior. Safety features are light years ahead of the old cars. Fuel economy, passenger comfort, overall build quality - all improved.

I love old cars - have a great vintage cadillac myself. But cars today are definitely better built and more durable than their ancestors

2. xx_satanic_mechanic_xx Says: They were made so you could fix and repair . Today it is throw away. The only part more durable is the drivetrain.
