Looking at a salvage title car?
(2011-09-30 14:30:14) 1. Says: I'm looking at a 2004 Nissan Nismo 350z. It has been wrecked it looks like it was rear ended and then hit something else. both bumpers are messed up. The people working on it say it is having "Computer problems" They say they have ordered several computers for it but they won't work. They finally brought it to the nissan dealership they are working on it. It should be totally fixed by this next week. They are asking $9500 for it but the most I think I would pay is $8000. Regular (Non nismo) 350z's with clean titles run about $10,000. Should I get the Nismo or not?2. Says: I wouldn't touch a salvage car. No way.You won't get a lender to give you a loan.
You won't find an insurance company to write you full coverage insurance
You are at risk driving a car that was totaled and rebuilt3. Says: Only offer them what you think is right and be willing to walk away from the deal. Most of the time there is a fudge factor in the price just so they can please a haggler. If you think it is worth 8000 dollars and start at 7000 dollars, there is good chance they will come down a little. What every they counter offer, go to 8 and see how it works out.4. Says: I wouldn't buy it unless i had it inspected by a mechanic I trust. The only cars I would buy salvage are cheap anyways ( like 4000 clean) so the chance of losing out is less if it fails.
Just wait till you have the money and buy a clean title5. Says: If it has a clean title value of $10,000 it is worth $4000 if it has a salvage title.6. Says: you must love headaches since if you but this you're going to have one big one for a long time Tag: Looking at a salvage title car?
