Thank you for your time.
2. mdk68gto, ase certified m tech Says: that is the hood to body ground strap. it os only ther for the light under the hood if so equiped. the gas guage is not related to that at all in any way.
3. Chocaholic Says: I do not know that much about electrical connectors and their names but according to you photo I would say that connection was

"BWOKEN"

I may be wrong but I don't believe so.

Also, being that it is a "ground wire", yeah it would be a good idea to fix it. All electrical works because it has both power and a ground connection.(engine, lights, starter, etc)
4. mycoldfeet Says: It is a ground strap that grounds the chasis to the body for electrical components.
5. Brendan Hollman Says: your looking at a broken body ground connection. not too sure if thats why your gas tank is stuck full. probably not.
6. Marty F Says: Looks like a body ground to me.
7. Dave Says: body ground
