Transmission 4L30E third clutch removal?

1. Rafael Says: how do i remove the ring from the drum inside in order to replace the clutches and steels? do i need a special tool?

2. Soft Hearted Says: Take a few paper clips. Open them up and on a hard surface flatten them out with your hammer. Now take the drum and lay it on its side. With a scribe or pocket screw driver push down on the snap ring through the slots in the drum. Then slide the clip in between the drum and fwd sprag race. Do this going around the drum in 3-4 places. Then just work out the sprag with a scribe or screwdriver.
