Can a M5 engine be mated to any BMW automatics?

Fred Says: I want to do a conversion of my 1995 840 to a M5 engine, but want to keep the automatic. i know most of the earlier M5s were sticks. It seems as though either direct bolt up, or adapter plate may work.Thanks all!!
