I have a 1996 chevy beretta 3.2 v6 it failed emissions egr?

bri Says: so i replaced the egr cleared the codes drove to emissions center check engine came back on and failed again for the egr again so took it off noticed this gravy looking liquid im pretty sure it clogged it up what do i do know?can i with the egr off start the engine and try to rev that **** out or what do i do im really confused and all the way pissed i hate working on cars something that's as easy as two bolts never ends up being that easy aarrggghhh

Autodude Says: It used to be standard procedure in our shops when replacing the egr valve rev the ---- out of it a few times to clean out the egr ports and passage ways from carbn build up.

skwonripken Says: I hate to say it, but "gravy" usually means oil and water mixing. Hope not for your sake. Headgasket or something like that.
