In what year did gm kill the electric car and why?

2. gooseboy78 Says: the killed the eletric car because it wasnt making gm any money the cars would come into mechanics and get all the fluids topped up and back out on the road again. i read the book the owners gm recalled the cars as they were just a trial run then the people offered to buy the cars at twice the price and gm said no and crushed every car after the trial period was over. but there is nothing stopping you from making your own eletric car. there lots of plans from other sites on the web.
3. It'sSupercharged!2000 Says: Yeah, about that...try 1999. That was the GM EV1, and it lasted from 1996 to 1999. All examples were leased, so most were destroyed after 1999. The car showed promise. I suppose that promise became the Volt.
