Is it illegal to drive replica cars?

1. SomeRandomPerson Says: Clearly the car has to be road legal to drive it on the road. A replica can either get built on a custom chassis or an existing chassis. If it is on a custom chassis then it will be listed as a custom car through the dmv and if it is on an existing chassis (EG a 250 gto replica on a 240z chassis) it may be listed as what the original car was. Naturally the car must also have basics like the licence plate light and brake lights to be road legal.

If you plan on buying a replica be sure to ask if it is road legal and if it is already registered with the dmv. Should be easy to tell based on the title.

hope this helps
