1. Suprdud Says: Toyota Tacoma. Sr5 whatever. I want to get one, i'd prefer the regular cab, as the access cab and the double cab, IMO, look strange and extend the wheelbase.

I was llooking at a newer Tacoma, but they only have the newer ones with the tiny 2.7L 4 cylinder engine... not the v6...

Will the 4 cylinder engine work for offroad? or should i look for an older tacoma with the regullar cab and a 6 cylinder engine?

aaaalso, do they have ANY tacomas with diesel??
2. Eric P Says: The most capable Tacoma is the one with the TRD off-road package that includes the electrically-actuated rear differential locker but that package is not available on regular cabs.

I would prefer the 2.7L to the 4.0 v-6. The 2.7 is not tiny. It's a large-displacement 4-cylinder with 16 valves and it has quite a bit of grunt. It has more output than the previous 3.0L V-6. The 2.7 is a great off-roading engine.

No Toyota diesel trucks are currently available in the US. The Toyota Hilux truck is sold with diesels in other countries.

SR5 is an option package, not a truck model. Trucks produced before the middle of 1995 had the model name "Truck" and were available with the SR5 option package. The Tacoma debuted part way into 1995. The Truck and Tacoma are not basically the same thing. They have completely different bodies, frames, suspensions, interiors and drive trains.
3. WienerPARTtime Says: toyota doesnt make any diesel engines but in my opinion the best tacoma's are the earlier one's that have v6's and they have better suspensions made for offroad but the best toyota trucks are the v6 pickups which are cheap but very very reliable and can go anywhere offroad hopefully i have helped
