Dodge durango vs ford explorer?
(2011-10-29 14:15:09) 1. Says: Why was the ford explorer best selling suv in the late 90"s when we had other suv that are still better to this day like the 1998 Dodge Durango. The Dodge Durango is more reliable than a ford explorer. Maybe people like the explorer better just to be roll over, be on the side of the road, have engine/transmission problem . I believe the Dodge Durango should had been the best selling suv in the USA.2. Says: Durango are better3. Says: I think the only reason was the Explorer drove a little nicer than the Dodge. The Durango was a beast and it drove like one. My in-laws have a 2001 Durango and it drives like an army tank compared to the Explorer. I'm not saying that's a bad or a good thing; it is what it is. The quality/reliabilty issue is a hot topic between Ford and Dodge. I had a '94 Dakota that gave me no problems whatsoever, and my in-laws Durango has 130,000 miles on it (although now the engine is blown but that was my father-in-laws fault, he left the radiator cap off while towing a trailer and the engine overheated.) Oh well, live and learn. =)4.
