Why is the GLK so much cheaper than the X5?

The BMW X5 competes with the Mercedes M-Class, the Audi Q7, the Volvo XC90, and the Lexus GX; to name a few.
In case you are still confused...
It's like comparing an Audi A4 to a BMW 5-Series.
