What is wrong with my Lincoln?

1. toolforadream Says: These are the syptoms of the car. This leads me to believe that it is a transmission problem but I'm not sure at all. Sudden acceleration from a full stop causes violent vibration, and/or shakes. You feel the vibration under the gas pedal and brake pedal every once in awhile. And when in a full stop, after acceleration it acts like it takes a second to catch up to the gas or something. Like it will spin the tires for a second then squeall off if I accelerate too hard. I'd appreciate any suggestions!!! If it is transmission failure, how much can I expect to pay?
2. SYKO Says: minimum 3000??!!! wtf?! must have never had a trans done then! Ive never paid no more then 1000 for a full rebuild and thats with high end parts to handle lots of horsepower! Dosnt piticularly sound like a trans problem sounds like a heavy miss in the motor wich would cause that bad shake to happen. I know my 99 had a heavy miss and it made everything work incorrect, I put in new plugs and made sure all the coils were seated correctly and it went away now its smooth as butta!
3. adam c Says: wow, you certainly have a transmission problem! it will cost you minimum 3000 to have it replaced if it's front wheel drive or about 2000 if it's rear wheel drive. you'd be better off buying the same model of car for $500-1000 and redoing the trans yourself. of course, if this is not probable, get a quote!
4. 144289 Says: engine miss/ frozen fan clutch, don't know what model/make
